AURORA | Colorado rental prices experienced a slight dip in October, but remain about two percentage points higher than the national average, according to a new study released Nov. 3 by Apartment List.
Following seven consecutive months of surges, last month’s median rental price of $1,050 for a one-bedroom apartment was a drop of 0.6 percent from September, according to the report.
However, single-bedroom rents are up 5.3 percent over the same period in 2014, which bests the national growth rate by 2.3 percent.
The median rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Aurora is up 9.1 percent from last October, making the city the third-fastest growing burg in the state, according to Apartment List, a San Francisco-based market research firm. Aurora’s average rental price was $1,260 for a two-bedroom apartment and $920 for a single-bedroom. Those prices made the city the 14th most expensive place to rent in Colorado.
Boulder once again laid claim to the title of most-expensive city to rent in the state, with an average two-bedroom rent of $2,000 and a one-bedroom mean of $1,570. Lone Tree, Centennial, Highlands Ranch and Broomfield rounded out the top five most-expensive list. Denver sat at number six with a one-bedroom average of $1,110, which is up 6.2 percent from the same period last year.
Labor and capital are both in extreme demand due to half of working age adults out of the workforce and on the sidelines, and wage stagnation due to massive deficit spending in order to finance our expanding welfare system.
