CENTENNIAL | Jury selection for the trial of James Holmes continued Friday with three of 11 prospective jurors being asked to return for the third questioning stage. In total, 70 jurors have been asked to return for the final phase of jury selection.

Judge Carlos Samour Jr. has indicated that he is looking for between 120 and 135 prospective jurors to advance to the group stage. The other eight prospective jurors were released various reasons.

Two men expressed doubts about their ability to render a death penalty decision and were excused. A young woman was released for undue hardship regarding her work as a student and difficulties with post-traumatic stress disorder. The others were released for other reasons.

Holmes is accused of murdering 12 people inside the Aurora Century 16 theater on July 20, 2012. He wore a blue, checkered shirt and spent the majority of the day reading. The group questioning stage of jury selection will begin April 13 and is expected to last two days.

  1. And after this monster gets more than his ‘fair share’ of ‘justice’ there will be appeal after appeal, why, that’s the lawyers way, especially when the taxpayers are coughing up the dough for this no-good murdering punk.
