A group of Aurora voters thinks U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman, R-Aurora is spending too much time in Washington and not enough time listening to constituents at home.
They really want to sit down face-to-face with him to talk about job creation — so much so that they’ve made a series of YouTube videos called “Where’s Mike?” where they ask random people if they’ve seen him lately. You can watch here.
They identify themselves as the 99 percent and are inviting people to sign a petition for Coffman to schedule a town hall meeting in Aurora. So far, they’ve got 50 signatures.
The campaign is being organized by a Democratic grassroots organization called Colorado Fair Share.
According to its website, “Fair Share Alliance works to provide every American with a fair shot at a good job, a secure future, and a strong voice in our democracy by standing up to the right-wing politicians and Wall Street interests who block progress at every turn.”
Guess we shouldn’t tell them that a Sentinel staffer thought he saw Coffman at the gym the other day.

Whoopie: Fairshare when googled, shows Fairshare Denver. Then when clicking on who we are, I don’t find a anyone listed from Aurora, or District 06. Was Fairshare called ACORN in 2008? There is nothing non-artisan on the website, trashing Republicans and with photos and text of how they worked for Obama in 2008. Give me a break. Bush has been blamed for everything possible, but Nancy Pelosi ruled House, and Harry Reid the Senate. Bush did the b est he could with all that faced him, and if we common citizens did not realize the problems we have since 20 Jan 2009. All listed in Fairshare have been community organizers or green party advocates. And that funding has not made my life easier or more economical. Go tell it to Washington, if you can find Obama in the White House. Leave Mike Coffman alone. He has done more for me and my peers (veterans and seniors) over past 20-25 years.
That’s funny, because it looks like you made that all up to me. I don’t see any “trashing” of republicans. I don’t see anything about working for Obama.
You want to talk about Coffman supporting veterans? He voted for the Paul Ryan budget, which directly cuts veterans benefits. You want to talk about Coffman supporting seniors? The ryan budget also cutsssocial programs such as SOCIAL SECURITY, while cutting taxes for anyone making over $1,000,000/year by 12+% and RAISING taxes on anyone making under $30k/yr.
Mike Coffman hasn’t done anything for our communities, veterans or seniors, unless of course you’re in the top 1% of income earners.
It is sad to me that Coffman has to stoop to questioning the President’s citizenship to connect with his audience. I don’t know if it speaks more of his morals, or of the fear-mongering that the GOP likes to employ during major elections. I don’t care where he is currently, I just hope that he is not re-elected, because he certainly doesn’t represent me and my values.
