AURORA | Aurora City Council unanimously approved updating the city’s liquor licensing laws at a regular city council session starting at the Aurora Municipal Center Monday night.
Councilwoman Molly Markert was absent from the meeting and did not vote.
Under the measure, a business with a license that has been expired more than 90 days but less than 180 days can submit an application to the city’s Local Licensing Authority to have it reissued.
Applicants who apply for a license more than 90 days after it has expired are also required to pay a late application fee and fines as required under state law.
If the applicant misses that deadline, under the measure, they will have to apply for a new license.
The city is also adding vintners and distilleries to the list of establishments subject to a liquor occupation tax.
