AURORA | A new 24-hour ballot box will be coming to Aurora’s Utah Park in time for this year’s November election.
Aurora City Council members unanimously approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Arapahoe County Clerk to place the box in the park Monday, June 20.
The intergovernmental agreement will last for 10 years with Arapahoe County paying to install and maintain the ballot box, which includes a video surveillance system. Adams County voters will also be able to use the box to cast ballots.
The City of Aurora currently already three 24-hour mail ballot drop boxes located on municipal property: one at the Aurora Municipal Center, one at the Aurora Center for Active Adults, and one at the Mission Viejo Library. These drop-off boxes are proving to be very popular, city staffers say, and the Secretary of State is encouraging all the counties to install one, if not more, drop boxes for use in elections.
Utah Park is located at 1800 S. Peoria St. in Aurora.
