FORT COLLINS | A police officer suspected of causing a fatal crash in what authorities say was a road rage incident in northern Colorado has been charged with vehicular homicide.

The Coloradoan reports Weld County prosecutors filed the charges against 48-year-old Blair Jackson Thursday. The Ault officer, who had been off duty during the June 1 incident, has been placed on unpaid administrative leave.

Authorities say Jackson crashed into a pickup truck driven by 39-year-old Esteban Moreno Jr., causing the truck to roll. Moreno died at the scene.

Witness reported both drivers engaged in road rage behavior by tailgating each other and cutting each other off before the crash.

Court records show Jackson told authorities Moreno caused the wreck.

An attempt to find a phone number for Jackson was unsuccessful Thursday night.
