A group of Arapahoe County Democrats are worried that lines will be long on Election Day — long enough that people will simply leave without having voted.
John Buckley, chairman of the Arapahoe County Democratic Party, said he expects there to be two-hour waits at vote centers on Election Day, and that people will potentially “leave by the hundreds.” He’s working with Spencer Ross, Colorado Voter Protection Coordinator for Organizing for America, who crunched the numbers on modeling software to come up with the estimates.
Buckley and Ross requested more than 20 voting machines at 11 of the 32 vote centers in Arapahoe County.
Arapahoe County Clerk and Recorder Nancy Doty said on Oct. 26 that she is “determining the feasibility” of his request, according to emails.

The amount of voter suppression going on around the country right now is just totaly shameful. How can we claim to be the world’s leading democracy when we are making it harder to vote. I place most the the blame on the Repubs who want to win at any cost. They should not be rewarded with election victories for this behavior. We all know that real voter farud is very minimal. So are they really suggesting that it is better to prevent 1 million people from votin in order to prevent a dozen cases of real farud? That is just nuts. Vote Democrat and Obama to strike a victory for fairness and justice.
I always vote Tuesday, election night, and have yet to encounter hardly any lines. Last night, I walked in at 6:45 and walked right up to the front. Hmmm…perhaps my good politikarma is making up for the parkarma.
