DENVER | One person was killed and six others were injured in a house fire in southwest Denver.

Denver Fire Capt. Greg Pixley says two people were rescued from inside the two-story house Tuesday night despite intense heat and one person was found dead.

Neighbors say a couple lived in the home with their adult son, who they described as being handicapped.

Two neighbors were injured when they tried to help rescue people and one firefighter was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. A second firefighter was treated at the scene.

The cause of the fire isn’t known yet.
