AURORA | Rangeview reclaimed the Hog Wars trophy on the 10th anniversary of the lineman competition.
Six of the city’s 11 high school football programs were represented in the annual strength competition July 9 at Rangeview High School.
Hog Wars started at Rangeview by head coach Dave Gonzales in 2005 and is held one month before official practices start every year. Teams consist of five linemen from area high schools that compete in five events: the farmer’s carry, 125-pound log press, monster tire flip relay, firetruck push and the tug o’ war.
This year, Rangeview won the Hog War title by winning three of the five competitions and finishing second in the other two. Rangeview won their seventh Hog Wars title in ten years.
“We are very excited to get the trophy back where it started. It is a special feeling winning on the tenth anniversary,” Gonzales said.
Last years Hog War champions Cherokee Trail saw the title slip away as they finished second in the competition, and Smoky Hill finished third.

Congrats Rangeview! Which schools paricipated?
