AURORA | ‘Tis the season for winter prep sports and teams in five sports get the go-ahead to practice officially on Thursday.

Teams in boys and girls basketball, wrestling, girls swimming and ice hockey take to courts, mats, pools and rinks in preparation for the Dec. 1 opening day of the regular season.

Aurora has the defending Class 5A boys state basketball champion in Overland, as well as players on the Cherry Creek co-op ice hockey team that took home last season’s title.

The Regis Jesuit girls swim team finished second behind Fossil Ridge.
