MONDAY, SEPT. 28: Delaney Falzon homered and joined Tayah Burton, Rylee Holsten and Sophie Jans with two RBI apiece for the Cherokee Trail softball team in a 15-0 Centennial League home win over Mullen. Nine Cougars in all drove in at least one run to back Jans, who did not allow a hit and struck out five in three innings on the mound. …The Aurora West College Prep Academy boys soccer team range up 10 goals in a 10-1 victory at Sheridan that ran its winning streak to six games. …Sebastian Rocha Medina converted a pass from Elias Garcia Jr. in the equalizing goal for the Rangeview boys soccer team in its 1-1 road tie at Overland. …Iyana Gonzalez Som connected with Logan Wagner on a touchdown pass late in the second quarter for the Eaglecrest girls flag football team in a 6-0 win over Columbine at Legacy Stadium. …The Smoky Hill field hockey team picked up its first win of the season with a 2-0 home victory over Dakota Ridge.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 26: Haisley Elliott pitched a perfect game for the Eaglecrest softball team in an 8-0 Centennial League home win over Cherry Creek as she allow no hits, did not walk a batter and struck out 13. Offensively, she went 3-for-3 and drove in two runs, while Ryleigh Stufft homered and joined Jaelyn Reish with two RBI for the Raptors. …Sydney Cobb fanned 10 hitters and scattered two hits in the Cherokee Trail softball team’s 10-0 Centennial League road win at Grandview. Delaney Falzon homered and drove in three runs to pace the Cougars offensively. …The Overland softball team picked up its first win of the season with a 19-0 road defeat of Abraham Lincoln. …The Vista PEAK Prep girls volleyball team defeated Littleton (25-14, 25-11)22 and Poudre (25-20, 25-15) during a 2-2 performance at the Northfield Tournament. Emily Peterson had at least seven kills in three of the four matches, while Kendall Elkins averaged better than 11 assists per match. …The Grandview girls flag football team defeated Eaglecrest 37-0 in a Centennial League home game that saw Brooke Sullivan pass for three touchdowns and catch two for the Wolves, who also got two touchdown passes from K’Dence Thomas and two TD catches from Aniyah Coleman. …A massive game for Michaela Halton gave the Overland girls flag football team a 42-0 Centennial League home win over Cherokee Trail. Halton threw six touchdown passes and had four interceptions for the Trailblazers, while Zahriya Hill (2), Joy Jamison, Jalena Flores and Lucy Massingale all caught scoring passes. …The Regis Jesuit boys tennis team accrued 38 points to finish two behind Cherry Creek in the quest for the championship at the eight-team Cherry Creek Invitational, while Grandview finished in eighth place. …The Grandview field hockey team edged Smoky Hill 1-0.
FRIDAY, SEPT. 25: Kemo Fofana scored two goals and Alexis Hernandez also tallied for the Aurora West College Prep Academy boys soccer team in its 4-0 road win at Twin Peaks Classical. …The varsity races of the Dave Sanders Memorial cross country meet were canceled by weather, which also wiped out or forced the suspension of contests in a variety of other sports.
THURSDAY, SEPT. 24: An 11-strikeout effort from Emma Rice — who allowed just two hits and one earned run in five innings — helped the Cherokee Trail softball team to a 13-1 Centennial League win at Arapahoe. Tayah Burton had three of the Cougars’ 15 hits, while Sophia Jans homered and drove in four runs, Rice had three RBI and Taylen Shaver two. …Haisley Elliott went 4-for-4 and scored three times, while she pitched a three-hitter with nine strikeouts as the Eaglecrest softball team downed host Mullen 11-1 in Centennial League play. Lelia Kelliher added two RBI for the Raptors. … Joe Coughlon and Bailey Ledvina tallied a goal and an assist apiece and Asher Bradley also found the back of the net for the Regis Jesuit boys soccer team in its 3-0 Continental League win over ThunderRidge. …The Vista PEAK Prep boys soccer team picked up a 3-2 win at Westminster. …Martin Carrizoza and Jesse Ramirez scored goals for the Hinkley boys soccer team in a 2-2 Colorado League tie at Gateway. …The Cherokee Trail girls volleyball team swept past Arapahoe 25-22, 25-11, 25-13 in Centennial League play with help from eight kills apiece from Londyn Donaldson and Trudy Randle, while Kendall Miller made 13 digs and Jillian Kuskie dished out 29 assists. …The Grandview girls volleyball team continued its unbeaten start to the Centennial League schedule with a 25-6, 25-16, 25-8 win against Overland. …Sanaya Wyatt racked up nine kills and Jaici Simmons had seven, while Kendall Elkins recorded 19 assists as the Vista PEAK Prep girls volleyball team downed visiting Denver North 25-8, 25-19, 21-25, 25-14 in City League play. …The Hinkley girls volleyball team got 10 kills from Rylee Manzanares, eight blocks from Yareni Colmenero Bujanda and 13 assists from Jeralynn Navarro in a 24-19, 25-21, 17-25, 25-17 win over Aurora Central. …The Regis Jesuit girls flag football team won its second game in as many nights with a 19-12 defeat of Lutheran. …The Vista PEAK Prep girls flag football team got back on the winning track as Rilee Bergquist threw a touchdown pass and Marissa Martinez caught one and picked off two passes in a 15-6 win over Northfield. …The Grandview boys tennis team earned a 6-1 Centennial League dual victory over Smoky Hill behind singles wins from Steve Li (No. 2) and Nathan McIsaac (No. 3) plus a doubles sweep, while Evan Nguyen took the No. 1 singles match for the Buffs. … The Regis Jesuit boys golf team took ninth at the Continental League tournament held at Saddle Rock G.C. with help from Austin Katzer, who shot 1-under-par 71 to tie for fifth individually.
WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 23: The Eaglecrest softball team finished off a 7-1 Centennial League home win over Grandview in a game postponed from the previous day. Alyssa Vallejos allowed three hits and struck out 10 in a complete game effort with offensive support from Ryleigh Stufft (2-for-3 with a triple and RBI) and Haisley Elliott (three runs scored). …The Cherokee Trail boys soccer team got its first win of the season with a 2-1 Centennial League defeat of Eaglecrest. The Raptors got a goal from Sebastian Plata in the opening half, but ceded a second score in the second half. …The Vanguard Classical East boys soccer team rolled to a 5-0 win over Denver Jewish Day. …The Grandview girls flag football team remained unbeaten in the Centennial League with its 27-12 win at Arapahoe, which was fueled by four touchdown passes from Brooke Sullivan. Three of the scoring strikes went to K’Dence Thomas (183 yards receiving) and the other to Kendall Tracy. …A 300-plus-yard day for Michaela Halton helped the Overland girls flag football team defeat Eaglecrest 33-12 in Centennial League play. Halton threw three touchdown passes (to Joy Jamison, Olivia Gadberry and Jalena Flores and picked off three passes defensively. …Gay Thmoe tossed touchdown passes to Destiny Martinez and Setou Sy, while Maria Gutierrez Benitez rushed for 170 yards and a score in the Aurora West College Prep Academy girls flag football team’s 19-13 victory at Hinkley. …Celie Dengler threw two touchdown passes and Annabelle Kinder caught two to help the Regis Jesuit girls flag football team to a 28-0 victory over Highlands Ranch. …Despite goals from Sam Beatty and Izzy Nichols, the Regis Jesuit field hockey team fell to Colorado Academy 3-2. …The Overland gymnastics team earned 173.050 points to defeat Cherry Creek (167.300) in a two-time meet that saw Scarlett Matthies (uneven bars) and Stephanie Fernandes (floor exercise) take first in individual events and Abby Mess led the team with a second-place finish in the all-around.
TUESDAY, SEPT. 22: Thomas Cortes and Miguel Roa both converted passes by Aron Funez into goals for the Gateway boys soccer team in a 2-1 defeat of Aurora Central. …The Vista PEAK Prep boys soccer team played Abraham Lincoln to a 2-2 road tie. …The Cherokee Trail girls volleyball team kept rolling with a 25-7, 25-16, 25-10 Centennial League win over Smoky Hill that included seven-kill performances from both Londyn Donaldson and Olivia Laughlin. Harper Wilson contributed six aces and Jillian Kuskie dished out 26 assists for the Cougars. …The Grandview girls volleyball team outlasted rival Eaglecrest 27-25, 25-21, 26-28, 25-22 in Centennial League play. …The Vista PEAK Prep girls volleyball team played host to rival Rangeview and came away with a 21-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-21 City League victory. …The Smoky Hill boys tennis team completed a 7-0 sweep of Eaglecrest in Centennial League dual play. …The Regis Jesuit field hockey team blanked Pine Creek 2-0. …The Cherokee Trail boys golf team won the four-team Murphy Creek Quad tournament played at Murphy Creek G.C. with a seven-stroke victory over Regis Jesuit. Jack Brenning’s 6-under-par 66 paced the Cougars, while Anthony Garreffa shot 71 to tie for second place with Regis Jesuit’s Parker Hutchinson. The Raiders got an even-par 72 from Jack Liu, who tied for fourth. …Ace Kelly of the Vista PEAK Prep boys golf team shot a plus-6 77 at Wellshire Golf Course to finish in a tie for fifth place individually at the seventh City League tournament. Kelly’s Bison finished sixth in the team standings with a 17-stroke margin over seventh-place Rangeview.
