MONDAY, DEC. 15: The Lotus School For Excellence boys basketball team defeated Arrupe Jesuit 64-32.

SATURDAY, DEC. 13: The Grandview boys basketball team lost to Chaparral 64-50 in the championship game of the Chaparral/ThunderRidge Tip-Off tournament despite double-digit points from Ismael Kabongo (13) and Charlie Atkinson (12). …The Overland and Aurora Central boys basketball teams finished fifth and seventh, respectively, in the Mullen Christmas Classic Tournament, as both claimed wins on the last day. Overland downed host Mullen 58-50, while Aurora Central roared past Westminster 68-61 with help from Deon Davis Jr.’s 16 points, plus 14 from Jarami Fleming and 12 from Alex Flores. …The Cherokee Trail girls basketball team claimed the championship of the Cherry Creek Tournament with a 74-60 victory over Legend that featured a balanced offensive effort. Four Cougars scored in double figures, led by Karson Chaney with 17 points, while Chloe Cain and Hannah Hazim had 16 apiece and Aaliyah Broadus 14. Fifth-place in the tournament went to Regis Jesuit after its 67-36 defeat of Kent Denver behind matching 19-point efforts for Tiana Rogers and Molly Schimmer. …The Overland girls basketball team capped its showing at the Fountain-Fort Carson Trojan Classic with a 73-17 defeat of Pueblo South. …The Smoky Hill girls basketball team rolled past Adams City 56-8 to place fifth at the Centaurus Warrior Classic, while Gateway’s 52-21 defeat of Pomona earned it seventh place. …The Grandview boys wrestling team swept the Grandview Duals with wins over Silver Creek, Legacy, Broomfield and Chaparral prior to a 45-29 defeat of Brighton in the championship dual. JR Ortega, Kyle Menuez, Anthony Segura, Jonathan Montes Gonzales, Gunner Lopez, Marques Lawrence and Leland Day won by fall to account for the majority of the Wolves’ points. …Cooper Mathews won the 132-pound championship to help the Cherokee Trail boys wrestling team to fifth place out of 54 teams from multiple states at the Hamada Classic in California. Elijah Van Horn (106) and Charlie Rider (113) each were runners-up. …The Eaglecrest boys wrestling team finished fourth to lead four Aurora area teams among the 11 in the War Horse Invitational at Chatfield High School. Nekhai Miller (215 pounds) won the Raptors’ lone title, while Aiden Ritz (106) took second. Regis Jesuit had the 113-pound and 215-pound runners-up in Richard Avila and Aidan Sullivan, respectively, to finish seventh. …The Eaglecrest girls wrestling team racked up 170.5 points to finish second at the Eaglecrest Invitational, which included all six Aurora area programs in the field of 31 teams. Maxime Lantz won the 145-pound championship, Parice Jones finished as the 170-pound runner-up and seven Raptors earned top-six finishes, while Vista PEAK Prep was next in 11th place behind 125-pound bracket winner Amelia Bacon. Remington Zimmerer earned the 120-pound championship to pace 21st-place Regis Jesuit, while Smoky Hill finished 24th with help from 145-pound runner-up Mackenzie Johnson. …The Smoky Hill girls swim team finished atop a field of 17 teams at the Denver East Invitational held at Manual High School. Cameryn Walkup (200 yard freestyle) and Mya Noffsinger (200 yard individual medley) each won events, then teamed with Caroline Kaiser and Greta Smolenski to take the 400 yard freestyle title. Walkup, Kaiser, Smolenski and Sophie Noffsinger combined to win the 200 yard freestyle relay for the Buffs as well. …. Andrew Brennick, Evan Michalik, Dylan Nash and Alexander Warot all contributed goals, while Beau Paton dished our two assists and Marc Brousseau made 20 saves in the Regis Jesuit ice hockey team’s 4-2 road win over Monarch.

FRIDAY, DEC. 12: Obi Morris poured in 20 points to pace the Grandview boys basketball team in a 56-52 overtime win over ThunderRidge in a championship semifinal of the Chaparral/ThunderRidge Tip-Off Classic. The Wolves also got 13 points from Charlie Atkinson plus 11 from Noah Sevy. …Five players scored in double figures in points for the Cherokee Trail boys basketball team in an 88-40 demolition of DSST: Conservatory Green. Jordan Mitchell led the Cougars with 19 points, Jeremiah Shortis had 18, Anthony Ayon 13, Cameron Hopkins 11 and Christian Davis 10. …Despite a 37-point effort from Eric Fiedler, the Regis Jesuit boys basketball team fell to San Tan Charter (Arizona) 60-59. …The Aurora West College Prep Academy boys basketball team edged DMLK 44-43. …The Cherokee Trail girls basketball team built a double-digit lead after one quarter against Regis Jesuit in a championship semifinal meeting at the Cherry Creek Tournament and went on to a 72-47 victory in the all-area matchup. Aaliyah Broadus and Chloe Cain contributed 16 points apiece in the win, which also included Karson Chaney’s 15 points. …The Eaglecrest girls basketball team picked up a 58-35 win over Godinez in a championship semifinal at the Mariner Mayhem tournament in California. …The Overland girls basketball team cruised past Fountain-Fort Carson 65-30 at the Fountain-Fort Carson Trojan Classic. …David Lopez (195 pounds) and Phillip Gordon (215) picked up two wins by fall as part of a 46-36 dual win over Rangeview. The Buffaloes received four wins by forfeit, while they also had tech fall wins by Sonny Marosy (120) and Abbas Sakhizada (157). Jesse Montrey (113), Guy Evilsizer (144), Sayed Sina Hoosieny (165), Muhammed Ali Sardar (175) and Biram Griffey (285) won by fall for the Raiders. …Multiple goals in all three periods for the Cherry Creek co-op ice hockey team led to a 10-0 victory over Chatfield. Liam Corcoran and Mitch Soderholm-Hudson had two goals apiece, while Ari Gelfand scored a goal and matched Alex Messina with three assists.

THURSDAY, DEC. 11: Eric Fiedler poured in 38 points for the Regis Jesuit boys basketball team, which put up 29 points in the opening quarter on the way to a 75-50 win at Perry (Arizona). Anthony Lynett also reached double figures with 10. …The Eaglecrest boys basketball team held Monarch to single digits in three quarter en route to a 59-33 home victory. Demari Manns Davis tallied 15 points to lead the Raptors, who also got 12 from Clayton Kalimba. …Demetrius Lambert dropped 31 points and Mekhi McNeal added 18 for the Overland boys basketball team, which opened the Mullen Christmas Classic with a 65-53 win over Fruita Monument. …Kennedy Spellman tallied 20 points, Kiara Spellman added 15 and Kaydence Waymire eight for the Eaglecrest girls basketball team in a 50-42 win over Torrance (California) at the Mariner Mayhem tournament. …In a consolation semifinal at the Centaurus Warrior Classic, Ari Boyd tallied 31 points for the Smoky Hill girls basketball team in a 69-7 win over Gateway. Leilani Gordon contributed 17 points and Taylor Dirden chipped in 14 for the Buffs. …The Overland girls basketball team downed Vista Ridge 58-27 at the Fountain-Fort Carson Trojan Classic. …Blake Calkins, Illia Fialkov, Abraham Figueroa and Cameron Wainwright secured wins by fall to help pace the Overland boys wrestling team to a 50-21 dual meet win over Vista PEAK Prep. Abraham Garcia won by fall and Cole Redmond took a decision to earn points for the Bison. …The Overland girls wrestling team topped Vista PEAK Prep 51-21 as Mihret Shimels won by decision, while Safura Salu and Isabella Figueroa recorded wins by fall in addition to seven forfeits for the Trailblazers. Maylin Morales and Idaly Garcia had pins for the Bison.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 10: Dario Washington drained a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to lift the Rangeview boys basketball team to a 71-68 victory over Mountain Vista in a powerhouse showdown on the Raiders’ home floor. Marceles Duncan had a game-high 27 points (16 in a 30-point second quarter explosion for Rangeview), while Archie Weatherspoon V added 23 and Aidan Perez 10. …Cameron Hopkins tallied 23 pounts, while Caleb Jensen and Jordan Mitchell added 20 apiece to give the Cherokee Trail boys basketball team the firepower it needed to outlast Legend 81-78 in overtime. ….The Grandview boys basketball team opened the Chaparral/ThunderRidge Tip-Off tournament with a 49-28 win over Douglas County behind 11 points from Obi Morris and at least two from eight other players. …The Cherokee Trail girls basketball team pulled away in the second half for a 62-37 win over Windsor in a Cherry Creek Tournament first round contest. Aaliyah Broadus paced the Cougars with 26 points, while Chloe Cain added 14 and Hannah Hazim 13. Regis Jesuit also won its first round contest with a 54-46 defeat of Fort Collins behind Khloe Miller’s 15 and Tiana Rogers’ 10. …Kiara Spellman (14 points) and Kennedy Spellman (10) reached double figures to lead the Eaglecrest girls basketball team to a 42-33 win over Canyon (California) at the Mariner Mayhem. …The Aurora Central girls basketball team downed Denver North 41-34 with a boost from Jamaea Johnson-Gonzalez with 16 points and Ketzally Garcia-Munoz with nine. …The Eaglecrest boys wrestling team rolled to a 66-6 win over Rangeview with wins by fall from Rocco Lippa, Jordam Pham, Peyton James, James Pearson, Blake Simpson, Tayte Tahja, Luke Neumayer and Carlos Valenzuela, while heavyweight Biram Griffey took his match by fall for the Raiders. …The Regis Jesuit boys wrestling team edged Rock Canyon 42-41 in a Continental League dual with help from pins from Richard Avila, Dane Anderson, Lafe Sarjeant and Benjamin Bacon. …The Hinkley boys wrestling team earned a 48-36 dual match win over Gateway that included pins from Elijah Solis, Christian Ban, Daniel Quinonez, Angel Cruz, Ismael Villarreal and Matthew Canales, which countered win by fall for the Olys from Jakob Peterson and Daniel Ayala Sanchez. …The Rangeview girls swim team scored 129 points to finish in front of visiting Hinkley (30) and Gateway (10) in a three-team meet that saw the Raiders win 11 of 12 events. Daveah Archibeque, Anna Arana and Chela Gonzalez won two events apiece for Rangeview, which also got single wins from Scarlett Tambunan and Olivia Le to go with a relay sweep. Makenna Dossey took first in the diving competition for Gateway.

TUESDAY, DEC. 9: The Aurora West College Prep Academy boys basketball team downed Rocky Mountain Prep SMART 52-38. …Despite 20 points from Mehki McNeal, plus 18 from Demetrius Lambert, the Overland boys basketball team fell to visiting George Washington 81-65 in front of a packed house. …Devyn Davenport’s 18 points led the Rangeview girls basketball team to a 64-30 win over Bear Creek that also included a 10-point output for Zania Romero. … Maria Gutierrez and Nevaeh Flores Duran Zappas had 14 points apiece for the Aurora West College Prep Academy girls basketball team in a 42-34 win over Rocky Mountain Prep SMART. …Cameryn Walkup won two events, while Mya Noffsinger and Caroline Kaiser also took victories for the Smoky Hill girls swim team in a 163-149 loss at Arapahoe.
