CJ Sanders admittedly threw a few wobbly passes when pressed into quarterback duty on Sept. 25, but the senior’s legs made all the difference for the Gateway football team.
Sanders, who Olys coach Shane Ward calls a huge “tool in the toolbox,” rushed for four touchdowns and threw for one — his second straight game accounting for five touchdowns — and Gateway topped Smoky Hill 42-24 at Stutler Bowl.
Thomas Boles caught a touchdown pass as well to help spark the Olys, who have won two in a row after snapping a 13-game losing streak the previous week. Full recap and box score, here.
Earlier on Sept. 25, Regis Jesuit prevailed 29-14 over Denver South in a penalty-marred affair. Full recap and box score, here.
