With spring break in play for Aurora Public Schools, the Cherry Creek School District and Regis Jesuit, there was only sparse action in the past week.

Cherokee Trail and Regis Jesuit met on the baseball diamond April 3 and the Raiders prevailed 5-4, riding a great start by senior ace pitcher Caleb Sloan. The Texas Christian University signee pitched five-plus innings and didn’t allow an earned run.

Senior Jimmy Holinger had a two-run double in a five-run fourth inning for Regis Jesuit, which needed every run as Michael Morris’ three-run homer pulled the Cougars within a run in the seventh. After surrendering the Morris home run, senior Michael Baer got the last two outs to pick up the save for the Raiders. Recap and full box score, here.

• The Grandview girls tennis team topped Arapahoe 5-2 in a Centennial League dual match April 5, marking the first time the Wolves had beaten the Warriors. Grandview’s victories came from freshman Haley Artis and junior Amanda Olsen-Dufour at Nos. 1 & 3 singles, plus doubles wins came courtesy of senior Ila Farhang and sophomore Eleana Welsh (No. 1), seniors Rachel Cullop and Yehna Bendul (No. 2) and sophomore Rithika Ginjupalli and freshman Mia Nguyen (No. 4). Full match recap and results, here.

• On a dreary day April 1 at Legacy Stadium, the Cherokee Trail girls soccer team salvaged a 1-1 tie with visiting Castle View thanks to a second half goal from senior Rebekah Burton. In their first game in 10 days, the Cougars trailed the SaberCats until Burton’s diving header off a pass from senior Zariah Smith evened the game up in the 2nd half.

• The Grandview boys lacrosse team finished 3-0 on a trip to Utah, March 28-31. In the final game against Corner Canyon, the Wolves scored the only goal of the fourth quarter in a 9-8 victory. Sophomore Jack Rogers had four goals and senior Adam Trujillo added a pair for Grandview.

• The Rangeview baseball team dropped to 4-4 with an 18-1 loss to visiting Fort Collins March 30. The Raiders got two hits from junior CJ Peacock and an RBI double from senior Gonzalo Luevano, but couldn’t keep up with the potent Lambkins.

• The Regis Jesuit baseball team won all four of its games on its trip to the Anaheim Lions Tournament in California, capped by 9-5 win over Taylorsville (Utah) on March 29. Pitchers Caleb Sloan, Jacob Thompsen, Michael McPeek and Nathan Schraeder all picked up wins.

• The Smoky Hill baseball team dropped a 13-3 decision at undefeated Mountain Vista March 29, as it yielded 16 hits and made five errors. Senior Paddy Walsh had two of the Buffs’ three hits and drove in a run.

• The Regis Jesuit boys lacrosse team finished 0-2 on a spring break trip to California, dropping contests to La Costa Canyon and Torrey Pines. The Raiders fell 9-8 at La Costa Canyon March 28 (despite three goals from Jake Taylor) and then couldn’t keep pace with an undefeated Torrey Pines team that scored six first period goals.
