A look at some of the key games, tournaments and happenings in Aurora prep sports between Nov. 1-2:

The Class 5A state football playoffs open Nov. 1 with eight Aurora teams in action: No. 4 Regis Jesuit and No. 6 Cherokee Trail play 7 p.m. home games — vs. No. 29 Fort Collins and No. 27 Arvada West, respectively — while a 6 p.m. matchup at APS Stadium pits No. 19 Overland vs. No. 14 Rangeview. Road teams include No. 20 Grandview (7 p.m. at Prairie View), No. 21 Gateway (7 p.m. vs. Doherty at Garry Berry Stadium), No. 26 Hinkley (vs. Columbine at 4 p.m. at Jeffco Stadium) and No. 31 Eaglecrest (7 p.m. at Valor Christian).

Overland competes at the Class 5A state gymnastics meets Nov. 1-2 at Thornton High School with the team championship decided on Nov. 1 (3 p.m.) and individual events finals set for Nov. 2 (4 p.m.)

Vista PEAK closes out its football regular season at home at noon Nov. 2 with a win over Fort Morgan possibly netting it a 3A playoff spot.

Class 5A volleyball regionals Nov. 2 at various sites including Grandview, Regis Jesuit and Eaglecrest in Aurora. Cherokee Trail is at Highlands Ranch, Gateway at Cherry Creek and Rangeview at Regis Jesuit.

The quarterfinals of the Class 5A boys state soccer tournament are scheduled for Nov. 2, with No. 5 Grandview — Aurora’s only survivor after No. 1 Smoky Hill and No. 3 Rangeview lost in the second round Oct 30 — scheduled to play at No. 4 Pine Creek.
