AURORA | With more torrential rain forecast for Thursday evening, Aurora prep sports got washed out.

Hinkley’s home football contest against Arvada West fell victim to the conditions and was rescheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday at Aurora Public Schools Stadium. The Thunderbirds will look to become Aurora’s first 3-0 football team.

The Rangeview football team was scheduled to play Fairview as well, but the extreme conditions in Boulder — the area most affected by the downpour — pushed the game to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Centaurus High School in Lafayette.

Earlier Thursday, both the Cherry Creek School District and Aurora Public Schools issued statements canceling afterschool activities and athletics and both districts canceled school on Friday due to safety concerns for students and staff.

Some Friday and Saturday contests have also been reschedule or rearranged, including the Eaglecrest Invitational volleyball tournament, which was condensed from two days to a single day on Saturday.

The Eaglecrest-Fruita Monument football game got shifted to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Legacy Stadium.
