Volleyball: Rangeview knocks Prairie View from ranks of unbeaten

HENDERSON | The Rangeview volleyball team knocked off previously undefeated Prairie View in three sets Tuesday night, dealing the ThunderHawks a 25-22, 25-23, 25-16 defeat on the road.

Junior Tyler Speller racked up 11 kills and senior Jackie McBride had 10 for the Raiders, who also got 27 assists from senior Kelsie Hurtado.

The win created some intrigue as to the order of finish in the EMAC, as Rangeview (15-3) and Prairie View (16-1) both sit at 7-1 in league play,  while Brighton (18-4) is 8-0 in the league, but the Bulldogs — who beat the Raiders in four sets on Oct. 13 — still must play the ThunderHawks in their season finale.

Coming into the match, Prairie View had won an impressive 44 of the first 46 sets it had played this season, dropping one apiece to Grand Junction and Fruit Monument on a trip to the Western Slope in mid-September.

Rangeview closes out the regular season with a home match against Gateway on Thursday, followed by hosting their own tournament.
