DENVER | Sophomore Elazia Patton won all four races she competed in Saturday, helping the Vista PEAK Prep girls track team to a commanding victory in the Cowboy Invitational track meet held at All-City Stadium.
Twenty-one teams competed in the meet hosted by Denver West High School and none came even close to touching the Bison, who won six events total and racked up 139 points, while Strasburg and Wiggins tied for second with just 83 apiece.
Patton was the biggest winner of the day for Vista PEAK Prep, as she swept the sprint events with victories in 100, 200 and 400 meters, while she joined junior Jordyn Brewer, fellow sophomore Ra’Zyah Roberts and freshman Naomi Coleman to take the 4×100 meter relay.
The Bison had a second multiple event winner in senior Tajah Eugene, who claimed both the 300 meter hurdles as well as the high jump.
Vista PEAK Prep dominated the 100 and 200 meters with three finalists in each event in Patton, Brewer and senior Nabria Minor. Patton edged Brewer to win the 100 and put a second between herself and runner-up Minor in the 200. She also finished atop a field of 34 entries in the 400 with a time of 58.37 seconds.
Eugene dominated the finals of the 300 hurdles in 47.42 seconds, but she could not sweep hurdles as she was disqualified in the prelims of the 100 meter hurdles. Instead, she took the high jump with a clearance of 5 feet, 5 inches.
