In another in a list of impressive performances for Aurora athletes April 26-27 at the Liberty Bell Invitational was the performance of the Eaglecrest girls 800 sprint medley relay.

In a blazing performance, the Raptors’ foursome of Shaun Trece White, Omotuminunu Olatipo, Tashay Brown and Alicia Taurchini clocked a time of 1 minute, 46.10 seconds, which currently ranks as the second-best girls time in the United States according to Milesplit.com.

The only team faster than Eaglecrest this season has been a group from Wakefield School in North Carolina, which recorded a 1:45.29 on April 20 at a meet in Apex, N.C.

The Raptors — who ran four seconds faster than their seed time — hold the top time in Colorado this season, but not by much, as Cherry Creek turned in a 1:46.27 at the Liberty Bell meet.

Other impressive Aurora performances at the meet came from Regis Jesuit senior Kelsey Cunningham, who set a new Liberty Bell meet record with a triple jump of 39 feet, 2 3/4 inches.

Cunningham’s mark— currently tops in Colorado — broke the standing meet record of 39 feet set last season by Eaglecrest’s Danielle Williams, who went on to win the state championship.

Grandview’s Adaeze Obinnah posted Aurora’s other girls win in the shot put.

Senior Zack Golditch’s discus title and junior Devundrick Walker’s 800 meter crown helped the Gateway boys tie for fourth place. Grandview’s Jordan Charles won the boys 110-meter hurdles.
