Aug. 23: The 2018 football season begins with Grandview’s home game against Chaparral at 7 p.m. at Legacy Stadium, plus Cherokee Trail’s 7 p.m. game at EchoPark Stadium against Rock Canyon…A volleyball slate that includes four local matches has Eaglecrest playing host to Pine Creek and Regis Jesuit visiting Smoky Hill, with both scheduled for a 6:45 p.m. tip…The Rangeview boys soccer team visits Grandview at 4 p.m. at Legacy Stadium to highlight five games on the pitch…Rock Canyon pays a visit to Eaglecrest at 4:30 p.m. in softball action…Aug. 24: Five football games appear on the slate, which includes a non-league district matchup when Smoky Hill and Overland get together at 7 p.m. at Stutler Bowl for custody of the Wagon Wheel trophy. Aurora Central plays host to Northridge at 6:30 p.m. at Aurora Public Schools Stadium, where APS district dignitaries will hold a ribbon cutting on the new press box at the stadium. Eaglecrest plays host to Highlands Ranch at Legacy Stadium at 7 p.m., Rangeview visits ThunderRidge at 7 p.m. at Shea Stadium and Regis Jesuit kicks off in Florida…The pre-state cross country meet — aka the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede — is set for the Norris Penrose Events Center in Colorado Springs with Cherokee Trail and Gateway scheduled to run…Aug. 25: Gateway kicks off its football season with a 6 p.m. visit to Jeffco Stadium to face Chatfield…The Grandview field hockey team plays at 2017 state runner-up Colorado Academy at 4 p.m….Aug. 27: Chaparral, a 5A state volleyball semifinalist last season, plays at Grandview at 6:45 p.m…Aug. 28: The Cherokee Trail softball team pays a 4:30 p.m. visit to Mountain Vista as the Cougars look to pay back a 10-run loss last season….Two of the four 5A boys soccer semifinalists from 2017 meet at 5:30 p.m. at Legacy Stadium when Fort Collins visits Grandview…Aug. 29: Off to an undefeated start, the Vista PEAK softball team visits Smoky Hill at 4:15 p.m…The Overland gymnastics team competes for the first time with a 6 p.m. home meet against Rampart and Rock Canyon.
