AURORA | The significant snowstorm that arrived Wednesday caused the early cancellation of school for Cherry Creek Schools and Regis Jesuit High School and with it all sports practices and games Thursday.
Aurora Public Schools is currently on Spring Break, but the other school districts in the area made early calls on snow days, which also brings an end to scheduled after school activities, including athletics.
Originally scheduled for Thursday was competition for local teams in baseball, girls soccer, boys lacrosse, boys volleyball and girls tennis.
Aurora prep teams did manage to get in the majority of things scheduled for Wednesday, even with the arrival of precipitation.
The Cherokee Trail girls lacrosse team visited St. Mary’s Academy in a game played under a soaking rain that was delayed due to lightning. The Cougars piled up 13 goals in the opening half and went on to a shortened 18-3 victory.
