After finishing off the regular season with three crucial wins, coach Scott Lilley’s Vista PEAK team qualified for the 32-team 4A regional round as the second automatic qualifier from the Colorado 7 conference and ended up as the No. 29 seed when the Colorado High School Activities Association released the brackets Sunday.

Eight four-team regional tournaments will be in play on Oct. 17, with two teams from each double-elimination grouping advancing to the 4A state tournament Oct. 23-24 at the Aurora Sports Park. Vista PEAK (14-5) ended up in Region 4, with fourth-seeded Valor Christian (17-1) — the defending 4A state champion — the host team.

The Bison play the Eagles at 10 a.m., the same time that No. 20 Pueblo East (12-7) plays No. 13 Thompson Valley (12-7), a state tournament qualifier in 2014. The winners meet at 12:15 p.m. for the first state berth, while the two losers also play at 12:15 p.m. to state alive. The two remaining teams play at 2:30 p.m. to decide the second state qualifier.
