AURORA | Four city soccer players and one coach received a chance to take the pitch again with their selection to the Colorado High School Soccer Coaches Association All-State Games, slated for Wednesday evening at Lakewood Memorial Stadium.

Coach Tari Wood and three members of the Class 5A state championship-winning Wolves — senior goalkeeper Maddie Lesjak and sophomores Nicole Lyubenko and Taylor Parker — were selected for the girls game, which is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

The Grandview contingent is on the girls North Team, which also includes three members of the Broomfield team that the Wolves defeated 2-0 to win the 5A crown on May 20 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. All three players made the 2015 Aurora Sentinel All-City first team.

Lesjak has signed to play at Northern Iowa and Parker has verbally committed to the University of Denver off a Grandview defense that allowed just five goals in 19 games. Lyubenko led a potent Wolves’ offense with 12 goals.

Wood shares coaching duties with Colorado Academy’s Sean Stedeford.

Smoky Hill senior Kevin Del Mazo is Aurora’s lone selection for the All-State boys game and is confirmed to suit up for the South Team in a game slated for a 5 p.m. kickoff.

The Colorado Mesa University-bound Del Mazo received an invitation to the game for a third straight season. He racked up 18 goals and 14 assists for coach Kersten Mullan’s Buffs, which finished 16-3 and lost to Boulder in the 5A semifinals in the fall.

Both boys and girls All-State rosters include players from multiple classifications.
