CENTENNIAL | The lights went out at Family Sports Center Tuesday afternoon, but not before the Cherry Creek co-op ice hockey team shone bright in its debut.

The Bruins — a mix of players from schools around the Cherry Creek School District — tallied six goals in just over two periods worth of play and took a 6-0 victory over Dakota Ridge in a game that ended early due to a power outage in the facility.

Riley Hunt-Bahn and Brayden Orlowski each scored two goals and Aidan Tucker tallied three points for coach Jeff Mielnicki’s Cherry Creek team, while Walker McEntire made 18 saves in the net.

Orlowski’s two goals came in the first few minutes of the final period before the blackout.

Cherry Creek returns to the ice at Family Sports Center Feb. 5 for a 7:50 p.m. contest against Chatfield.
