CENTENNIAL | Quinton Reynolds admitted to trembling from nerves for much of Saturday night’s ice hockey showdown between Cherry Creek and Regis Jesuit.

The Bruins’ senior netminder was rock solid, if not spectacular, when he needed to be in the nets, as he made 35 saves and led the Cherry Creek co-op team to a 3-1 victory over the Raiders in front of a packed house at Family Sports Center.

Ryan Worley (Eaglecrest) broke a 1-1 tie with a goal early in the second period for the Bruins, then assisted on Cody Oakes’ (Cherokee Trail) empty-net insurance goal as Cherry Creek avenged a 3-1 loss to Regis Jesuit last season and improved to 13-3-1 overall.

Jackson Ross (Smoky Hill) had the other goal for the Bruins, while Reynolds (Overland) robbed the Raiders’ Connor Brennan at point blank range in the closing minutes to preserve the lead.

Brennan scored a power play goal in the second period to put Regis Jesuit (14-3) on the board first.

Raiders’ goaltender Sam Harden stopped 19 of the 21 shots he faced.
