FORT COLLINS | The Eaglecrest girls volleyball team remains looking for its first trip to the Class 5A state tournament since 2018 after it was swept in regional play this season.

Coach Morgan Garrow’s Raptors took the No. 16 seed and a four-match winning streak — including the championship of the Rangeview Invitational — to No. 9 Fossil Ridge Nov. 4 with the hopes of pulling off an upset.

Eaglecrest got derailed in its opening match with a 25-21, 27-25, 25-21 loss to No. 28 Ponderosa, however. The Raptors then ran into a Fossil Ridge team with an outstanding set of middle blockers in a 25-16, 25-14, 25-22 to have their season come to an end at 15-10.

Fossil Ridge defeated Ponderosa to earn the region’s spot in the 5A state tournament Nov. 10-12 at the Denver Coliseum.

The top four players in terms of kills for Eaglecrest — Janna Preskorn, Maddie Jones, Claudia Rossi and Nikaia Lydia — are slated to graduate along with both of the team’s primary setters in Rossi and Sadie Lewis.
