Girls Swimming: Host Buffaloes top Aurora teams at annual Smoky Hill Invitational


AURORA | Host Smoky Hill finished 7th to lead three city teams competing in Saturday’s 22nd annual Smoky Hill Girls Swimming & Diving Invitational.

Freshman Gaby Antunez took fifth in the 100-yard freestyle and sixth in the 50 freestyle and sophomore Julia Song was 5th in the 100 backstroke to lead the Buffaloes, who also put all three relay teams into the championship finals on their way to 276 points.

Eighth-place Cherokee Trail — which had 187 points — was paced by sophomore Grace Grigeriet’s fourth place in the 200 individual medley.

Senior Shelby Barner’s 13th place result in the 100-yard freestyle led the way for Eaglecrest, which came in 10th with 102 points.

Smoky Hill’s second team, the Red team, finished 11th with 72 points.
