AURORA | The Grandview girls soccer team looks more and more like the top seed as the Class 5A girls state playoffs roll on.

The Wolves posted by far the most lopsided result of any of the eight 5A second round contest Friday night — none of the others were decided by more than two goals — as they moved past No. 17 Boulder 6-0 at Legacy Stadium.

Junior Kendra Gipson’s goal less than two minutes after opening kickoff turned out to the game-winner and senior Natalie Beckman, junior Tori Parker and sophomores Caylin Lyubenko, Lily Newberry and Sara Schlichting also scored as Grandview earned its way into the 5A quarterfinals for the fourth consecutive season.

Beckman also dished out a pair of assists and junior Maddie Livingston made the only two saves necessary for coach Tari Wood’s Wolves, who moved to 14-0-3 overall.

Grandview plays host to No. 8 Rocky Mountain — a 1-0 winner over No. 9 Fairview — in a quarterfinal contest slated for 6 p.m. May 16 at Stutler Bowl. Legacy Stadium, the Wolves’ home field, is occupied with the 5A boys lacrosse semifinals.

The Lobos and Wolves played to a scoreless tie April 7 in a non-league matchup.

Grandview joins No. 6 Cherokee Trail (a 2-1 winner over No. 11 Cherry Creek) and No. 29 Regis Jesuit (a 1-0 winner over No. 13 Legacy) to give Aurora three programs left in the final eight.
