AURORA | The Grandview girls soccer team got a measure of revenge for a heartbreaking Class 5A state semifinal loss to Mountain Vista last season with a 2-1 victory over the defending state champions March 8 at Legacy Stadium.
University of Denver signee Natalie Beckman gave Grandview a 1-0 halftime lead and then fed junior Tori Parker for the game-winner after the Golden Eagles had come back to tie it up.
Senior goalie Reagan McCombs picked up the win with three saves as she split time in the nets with Maddie Livingston.
The Wolves followed up that win with a 4-0 victory March 13 against a Regis Jesuit team they also beat in the quarterfinals of last season’s 5A state playoffs. The Raiders won the meeting between the two in the opening game of the regular season.
