AURORA | The Regis Jesuit girls lacrosse team aimed to be the best host possible to its visitors from Aspen Friday night, except on the scoreboard.
The Raiders welcomed the Skiers into Lou Kellogg Stadium after their lengthy journey from the mountains with a 10-goal first half barrage that eventually led to a 15-7 victory a spot in the state quarterfinals.
Senior Mariah Daley and freshman Cate Lord scored four goals apiece and junior Sidney Weigand had a huge game with a pair of goal and five assists as Regis Jesuit (14-2) won its 14th straight game.
Coach Kathryn Ames’ Raiders earned another home game — which comes against Chaparral — with a chance to advantage to the semifinals. Regis Jesuit welcomes the fifth-seeded Wolverines — who downed No. 12 ThunderRidge 15-9 — to Lou Kellogg Stadium at 6 p.m. May 15.
Chaparral gave Regis Jesuit its closest contest in the past 11 games, as the Raiders won a 9-6 decision April 5.
Regis Jesuit joined Grandview to give Aurora two teams in the final eight. The ninth-seeded Wolves knocked off No. 8 Dakota Ridge 10-9.
