GREENWOOD VILLAGE | The Regis Jesuit girls lacrosse team played like it had nothing to lose and everything to gain Saturday and they nearly gained a whole lot.
The 16th-seeded Raiders put everything they had into their second round state playoff contest against top-seeded Cherry Creek at Stutler Bowl and came up just short in 13-11 decision that sent the Bruins on to the quarterfinals.

Using an extra night of rest to their advantage after the game was postponed from its originally scheduled time on Friday, Regis Jesuit played even with Cherry Creek until halftime and trailed by just a goal in the waning moments, but couldn’t overcome a brief lull early in the second half.
Coach Billy Corbett’s team, which got three goals from junior Kathleen Roe and two apiece from Mathison Davis, Brooke Dibiase and Mackenzie Reifsnider, finished the season 7-10 overall.
Cherry Creek, meanwhile, advance to play eighth-seeded Rampart in the May 13 quarterfinals.
The other quarterfinal matchups pit No. 12 ThunderRidge against No. 4 Denver East, No. 6 Kent Denver vs. No. 3 Colorado Academy and No. 2 Mullen against the winner of Monday’s contest between No. 10 Palmer Ridge and No. 7 Centaurus.
