AURORA | Grandview’s return go the girls state lacrosse playoffs didn’t quite go as planned, but the future looks bright.
The 19th-seeded Wolves battled No. 14 Heritage/Littleton all the way to the final minutes in Wednesday afternoon’s first round playoff contest at Littleton Public Schools Stadium before coming up on the short end of a 12-9 decision.
Grandview — which appeared in the playoffs for the first time since 2011 and only the second time in school history — finished the season with a program-best record of 9-7.
“This stings now, but I think it’s a precursor of things to come,” Wolves coach Kevin Mortimer said.
Heritage/Littleton moved on to play No. 3 Air Academy, which had a bye in the first round.
