LITTLETON | The second time was definitely a charm for three Aurora girls golfers at the Class 5A Metro West Regional.

Three days after their first try at qualifying for the 5A state tournament was washed out by rain, Rangeview sophomores Julia Kim and Danae Bushman and Gateway freshman Malorie Williamson took advantage of Thursday’s rescheduled round at Raccoon Creek Golf Course.

Kim turned in a 103 to lead players from four Aurora schools, while Williamson recorded a 109 and Bushman a 112 to earn the last spot from the regional headed to the 5A state tournament May 21-22 at Aurora Hills Golf Course.

The Rangeview duo are the first in school history to qualify for state according to longtime coach Rob Schurich.

While Kim handily made the cut, Bushman nearly didn’t have the chance as she needed to make a bogey on the 9th hole to qualify for playing the back nine. She got the bogey she needed and moved on, grinding her way to a score that just snuck her in.

Williamson became the first Gateway player to make the state tournament since Katie Seeger, a four-time qualifier, who graduated in 2010.
