ARVADA | Grandview senior Caroline Ryan will depart the prep ranks without having missed the Class 5A girls golf state tournament a single time.

The Wolves’ standout earned her fourth career state tournament berth with her solid performance at 5A Western Region tournament at West Woods G.C., as she grabbed an eighth-place finish to secure an individual spot

Ryan finished with a score of plus-12 84 that put her firmly in the group headed to the 5A state tournament May 20-21 at The Broadlands in Broomfield. Grandview finished fifth in the team standings as its other three entries — seniors Kate Anderson and Ella Wheeler and sophomore Jean Lim — all shot 103 to be part of a four-way tie for 21st.

Rangeview had only two players entered, so it didn’t appear in the team standings, however senior De’Coda High earned herself an individual berth in state.

High shot a 98 that gave her the 13th and final individual spot — after players from automatic team qualifiers Valor Christian and Chaparral were removed — to state.

Ryan and High join a group of six other area golfers already headed to the 5A state tournament, as four Regis Jesuit players (juniors Audrey Whitmore and Paige Furgason, sophomore Natalie Furgason and freshman Molly Amann) and two from Cherokee Trail (freshmen Kaylee Saul and Brinnon Cook) made it from Monday’s Southern Region tournament.
