AURORA | A tight race for the top spot in Centennial League girls golf got blown open a little Tuesday.

In the fourth of five league tournaments for the season, Grandview posted a 22-stroke victory over Cherry Creek in play on sun-splashed Aurora Hills Golf Course, expanding a three-stroke lead into a cushion of 25 going into next week’s finale at South Suburban Golf Course.

Wolves’ freshman phenom Amy Chitkoksoong fired a 4-under-par 68 to finish in the top spot individually, with senior Morgan Sahm close behind with a 71. With none of Cherry Creek’s five players shooting any better than an 80, Chitkoksoong and Sahm picked up a chunk of strokes for coach Mary Danielson’s team.

The Bruins played without Lexi Ringsby, who won the opening nine-hole tournament in league play.

Chitkoksoong was plus-1 after just two holes after her tee shot on No. 2 ended up along a wall that separate the course from the driving range. She chipped off the wall, put her next shot on the fairway and finished with a bogey.

She made birdies on three consecutive holes — Nos. 8-10 — to get to 3-under on the day and got to 4-under with a birdie on No. 16.

Sahm made par on her first 10 holes before a birdie on Hole No. 11 put her 1-under and she picked up another stroke with a birdie on the par-5 Hole No. 15.

Freshman Morgan Ryan, senior Emily Jung and sophomore Caitlin O’Donnell shot 82, 83 and 84, respectively, for coach Mary Danielson’s Grandview team.

Only four players finished lower than 80 and Smoky Hill freshman Amisha Singh was one of them with a 75 that was good enough for fourth.

With her chipping on point from the start, Singh birdied her first two holes and got as deep as 3-under with a birdie on No. 6. She was still even after 14 holes, but made bogey on three of the final four holes.

Led by Brooke Kramer’s 86, Cherokee Trail maintained its lead over Arapahoe for third place, despite the Warriors’ three-stroke advantage on the day.

Coach Gerry Camilli’s Cougars enter the final tournament with a seven-stroke advantage.

Eaglecrest was paced by Julia Shaver, who carded a 91.
