EVERGREEN | Team Colorado played host to the Girls’ Junior America’s Cup tournament for the first time in 18 years and made a run at the title before it finished fifth.

Eaglecrest sophomore-to-be Emma Bryant — the Class 5A girls state golf champion — shot rounds of 77, 78 and 85 at Hiwan Golf Club in Englewood to finish at plus-30 and in a tie for 48th in her first experience in the 18-team, multi-state tournament.

Kelsey Webster, Lauren Lehigh and Hailey Schalk rounded out Team Colorado.Webster and Lehigh tied for 14th in the individual standings at plus-16 for the tournament, followed by Schalk (tied for 21st).

Bryant’s older brother Davis helped Colorado’s boys Junior America’s Cup team come up victorious after three days of play in Anaconda, Montana.

After the tournament, Emma Bryant headed out immediately to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where she was to compete in the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship Girls’ 15-18 tournament. Grandview senior-to-be Morgan Ryan — who placed second to Bryant at the 5A state tournament — is also in the field for the Optimist.
