AURORA | Palmer Ridge tuned up for the state field hockey playoffs on Monday, while Grandview hopes to get in.

The visiting Bears blanked the Wolves 3-0 at Legacy Stadium, solidifying their spot among the top three teams going into the postseason and casting some uncertainty on the Wolves’ chances.

Seeding for the eight-team field hockey postseason is due out on Tuesday and may or may not include coach Chris Strater’s Grandview team, which fell to 7-8 overall and 4-8 in conference play.

Jessica Berg scored twice in the first half to boost Palmer Ridge — both on passes from Casey Deeds — which improved to 13-2. Briana Knop added an insurance goal midway through the second half for the Bears, who outshot Grandview 25-2 for the game.

Goalie Baylee Candelarie made 17 saves for the Wolves, who needed help from the Poudre co-op team against St. Mary’s to get into the playoffs.

A loss or tie by St. Mary’s against Poudre put Grandview into the postseason.
