Fresh off a 61-55 win over Cherry Creek (story, here), Cherokee Trail earned the top spot in the girls bracket, while the Bruins dropped into the other half at No. 2. The Cougars (18-2) will be on their home floor at 6 p.m. Friday for a game with eighth-seeded Smoky Hill in a rematch of Cherokee Trail’s 110-11 win Jan. 19.

Grandview (11-9) is the next-highest seeded area team at No. 4, which yields a home game against No. 5 Arapahoe (12-8) on Friday at 7 p.m. The Wolves topped the Warriors 55-49 on the road Jan. 19. The last Friday game has seventh-seeded Overland (12-8) playing at No. 2 Cherry Creek (16-3) at 5:30 p.m. after the Trailblazers lost to the Bruins 53-37 at home Jan. 24.

Sixth-seeded Eaglecrest (11-9) has a 6:30 p.m. Monday game at No. 3 Mullen (14-6) as the teams will meet for the second time in a two-game span after the Mustangs topped the Raptors 39-20 Wednesday.

The tournament continues with second round play on Feb. 15 — higher seeds in each matchup will host — and concludes on Feb. 17.
