CASTLE ROCK | Carl Mattei’s witnessed a lot of tremendous performances in a decade of greatness for the Regis Jesuit girls basketball program.
But nothing in terms of individual performances has matched what he saw from senior sharpshooter Anna Ptasinski — one of his six Division I-bound players — Tuesday night at Douglas County.

The Lafayette University signee set a new school record with a jaw-dropping 10-for-12 performance from behind the 3-point arc, scoring all of her game-high 30 points on triples in the Raiders’ 91-31 Continental League demolition of the Huskies.
“I’ve never seen anything like it,” Mattei said in astonishment afterwards.
According to Colorado High School Activities Association online girls basketball records — last updated in July of 2013 — Ptasinski joined three other Colorado players all-time with 10 made 3-pointers in a game: Kem Alsbaugh of Alamosa (2/7/1997 vs. Pueblo Centennial), Ashleigh Ackerman of Trinidad (2/23/2003) vs. Rye) and most recently, Holly Reinke of D’Evelyn (1/24/2012 vs. Arvada).
Ptasinski sank seven 3-pointers in a game two weeks earlier in Regis Jesuit’s rout of rival Highlands Ranch and bettered that performance by three against Douglas County.
Mattei kept her on the bench for significant minutes since the game turned into a runaway early, but Ptasinski made two 3-pointers in the first quarter, one in the second, four more in the third period and three in the final quarter.
Ptasinski has now made at least one 3-pointer in 19 of the Raiders’ 22 games, including the last 15 straight, and has 57 for the season. She has an ongoing sibling competition with brother Joey, a former Regis Jesuit boys standout who now plays for Lafayette, and trails her brother 63-57 for the season, though Joey has played in 25 games thus far for the Leopards.
In a Twitter message, Joey Ptasinski said the most 3-pointer he made in a single game in his Regis Jesuit career was “Only 7, she beat me badly, haha.”
Top-ranked Regis Jesuit (20-2) has one more game left in the regular season, Senior Night on Feb. 20 against Ponderosa, prior to the beginning of the Class 5A state playoffs.
Ptasinski’s double-digit 3-point binge came a few days after Colorado State-bound Jeremiah Paige set Rangeview’s school record by making 13 3-pointers in a game on his way to a school-record 52 points in a rout of Prairie View.
