AURORA | The countdown towards the opening of the 2015 fall prep sports season begins Monday, when practices are allowed in all sports ahead of the 95th season of high school competition sanctioned by the Colorado High School Activities Association.
A week after boys golfers began to practice and play, the remainder of the fall prep sports — football, volleyball, boys soccer, softball, cross country, boys tennis, field hockey and gymnastics — can open their tryouts/practices with an eye toward the Aug. 27 start to the regular season in most cases.
Boys tennis teams can play their first matches on Thursday, while softball’s first pitch is Friday.
Aurora has three defending Class 5A state championship teams from fall sports in Grandview’s volleyball and softball teams as well as Overland’s co-op gymnastics team.
