Denver Nuggets set to scrimmage at Gateway to honor shooting victims

AURORA | The Denver Nuggets will scrimmage in front of 1,600 students, plus faculty and staff Wednesday evening at Gateway High School.

According to a statement issued by the team, the Nuggets, their dance team and mascot, Rocky, will be on hand at the school to honor the victims of the July 20 shooting at the nearby Century Aurora 16 movie theater.

More than 60 former or current Gateway students were in the theater on the night of the shooting, in which 12 people died and 58 were injured.

The scrimmage is not open to the public.

The visit — which is also expected to include the presentation of an honorary jersey to the school — is part of the NBA Annual pre-season activities.
