The Centennial League Challenge boys volleyball team decided the league title and it went outside the area, as top-seeded Littleton Public Schools defeated No. 2 Eaglecrest in three sets April 26 at Heritage High School.
The Raptors — who earned an electric three-set win over rival and third-seeded Grandview in the championship semifinals April 24 — played the LPS team to give sets in regular season league play, but ended up on the short end of a 25-23, 25-16, 25-22 decision that snapped their winning streak at 11.
Grandview ended up in fourth place in the eighth-team tournament after fourth-seeded Valor Christian came away with a 27-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-21 victory on the Wolves’ home floor.
Securing fifth place was fifth-seeded Cherokee Trail, which got past No. 7 Cherry Creek 20-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-18, while seventh-seeded Overland downed No. 8 Mullen 25-19, 20-25, 25-15, 25-19 in the seventh-place match.
