AURORA | The Vista PEAK boys soccer team made history Tuesday night, becoming the first team to qualify for the state playoffs in the school’s debut at the varsity level.
Bryan Vasquez and Jason Camey scored goals and freshman goalkeeper Alan Islas made a huge stop on a penalty kick opportunity in a tight second half as the Bison prevailed 2-0 over Elizabeth in a high-stakes Colorad0 7 contest at Aurora Public Schools Stadium.
With the win, coach Jason Elliott’s Vista PEAK team improved to 9-4-2 overall and secured the Colorado 7’s second berth in the Class 4A state playoffs and second place behind league champion Fort Morgan.
Seeding for the 4A playoffs, and for 5A as well, will be announced on Sunday by the Colorado High School Activities Association.
