AURORA | The Aurora Central boys soccer team got off to a good start in Colorado League play with a 1-0 win at district rival Gateway Tuesday afternoon.

Coach Rudy Villalobos’ Trojans (2-3-1) snapped a four-game winless streak since a victory in their season opener as they got the lone goal of the game on a penalty kick by senior Miguel Vazquez in the late stages of the opening half.

The Olympians came into the game on a three-game winning streak, but coach Rene Ixta’s team was shut out for the second time and dropped to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in league play.

Both teams return to action on Thursday, as Aurora Central visits Overland at 4:30 p.m. and Gateway plays at Smoky Hill at 5 p.m.
