GREENWOOD VILLAGE | The Hammer traveling trophy has become one of the most regular traditions for the Smoky Hill boys lacrosse team, no matter who wears the forrest green uniforms.

With nearly an entirely new cast of faces on the varsity, the Buffaloes maintained their dominance over rival Eaglecrest with an 11-3 victory Friday night at Stutler Bowl, making sure The Hammer stays in its place in the school’s trophy case for a ninth straight year.

Seniors accounted for all 11 of the Buffaloes’ goals — five for Tyler Glenn, three for Blake Foerster, two for Beau Lansdown and one for Davis Smestad — while senior goalie Jordan Ruhl played an outstanding game in nets for Smoky Hill, which won its second straight game after an 0-4 start.

Coach Preston Davis’ Smoky Hill team downed visiting Bountiful, Utah, 11-10 on Thursday night.

Oliver Hart, Parker Loyd and Thomas Logan scored goals for Eaglecrest, which saw a three-game winning streak snapped.

Isaac Towner tallied two assists and goalie Evrett Shaw made 10 saves for coach Brian Vickery’s Raptors, who fell to 3-4.
