AURORA | Regis Jesuit carries the city’s hopes in the Class 5A boys state lacrosse playoffs as the only local team to make the 16-team field.
But coach Jim Soran’s Raiders didn’t just make it, they garnered the No. 2 overall seed for the postseason, which begins with first round contests on Wednesday.
Regis Jesuit finished the regular season 14-1, suffering its only loss to the team that finished in front of it in seeding, No. 1 Cherry Creek. The Raiders play host to 15th seeded Chaparral (9-6) at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lou Kellogg Stadium.
A victory would essentially land the Raiders another home game, as all four quarterfinal contests are scheduled to be played at Regis Jesuit on May 10.
