Apair of seniors who placed at the Class 5A and 4A boys golf state tournaments lead the way on Sentinel Colorado’s 2021 All-Aurora Boys Golf Team, which is determined by performance during the season and at state tournaments.

Grandview’s Lukas Beisner and Vista PEAK’s Dawson Thulin each earned medals with their play at the 5A state tournament at Colorado Springs Country Club and 4A state tournament at Denver’s City Park, respectively, to lead Aurora’s top five-some for the 2021 season.

Beisner’s senior teammate Kenny VanWormer and juniors Jake Irvine of Regis Jesuit and Andrew White of Eaglecrest round out the All-Aurora team.

Beisner played extensively with VanWormer during the offseason and soaked up as much as he could from his teammate, who had qualified for state in each of his varsity seasons, and it helped him take a big step forward.

Beisner — who recorded an ace during a round in the regular season, though not in a tournament — finished 14th in the Centennial League standings, but peaked in the postseason. He played his way to a sixth-place finish at state with a two-day total of 6-over-par 148 on a challenging course.

Thulin finished eighth in the 4A standings, but he was in the title hunt on the back nine of the final round before the head flew off his driver and derailed him a bit with four holes remaining. Thulin shot a 1-under par 70 in the opening round to earn a spot in the final group and finished with a 75 despite the late mishap to give the Vista PEAK boys program its first state placer.

Irvine shot nine strokes better in the second round of his state tournament with a 1-over 72 that earned him a share of 16th place, while VanWormer and White finished tied for 25th and 33rd, respectively, as each made the All-Aurora team for the third straight season.

White finished seventh and VanWormer eighth in the Centennial League standings to earn first team all-league honors.
