AURORA | Playing close to home, the Vista PEAK boys golf team found the going tough at Thursday’s Colorado 7 tournament.

Playing with two freshmen getting used to the varsity level, coach Mike Dougherty’s Bison finished fourth in the small four-team tournament at Murphy Creek Golf Course, coming in six strokes behind third-place Englewood.

Senior Trey Severin had the best day for Vista PEAK, as he carded a 94 on the par-72 course to finish just outside of the top five individually. Freshmen Luke Meier and Sha Jefferson shot 103 and 120, respectively, for the Bison.

With Andrew Shoemaker taking individual honors with an 81, Fort Morgan cruised to a 36-stroke victory over Elizabeth, which had two golfers right on Shoemaker’s trail in Adam Eveleth (82) and Skeet Ericson (83).

The next Colorado 7 tournament is scheduled for Tuesday at Spring Valley Golf Course in Elizabeth.
