AURORA | The North Division again got off to a big start at the first EMAC major boys golf tournament of the season, taking the top three spots in the team standings Thursday at Meadow Hills G.C.

Prairie View — with all five players finishing in the top 10 individually — built a six-stroke lead in the chase for the league title through the first of two major tournaments, while Brighton (336) finished a comfortable 12 strokes ahead of Northglenn for second place.

The tournament had the same order of finish as last season on the same course, as South Division leader Rangeview came in fourth with a team score of 360. Senior Dillon Joye recorded the lowest score for the Raiders with an 88, while sophomore Raymond Simanjuntak and senior Tyler Hayes were just behind as each shot 89.

Cody Coldiron’s 91 keyed Gateway’s sixth-place finish, R’Ron Fisher shot a 105 to lead seventh-place Aurora Central and Hunter Sellers’ 123 paced Hinkley, which finished a stroke behind Adams City in the chase for eighth place.

The second EMAC major tournament is scheduled for Sept. 5 at Buffalo Run G.C.
