LITTLETON | The Centennial League is hitting the home stretch of the boys golf season and things are now incredibly tight after Wednesday’s fourth league meet.

Eaglecrest freshman Davis Bryant hovered near the top of the leaderboard in several of the previous tournaments and managed to ascend to the top spot this time with 1-over-par 73 at the par-72 South Suburban Golf Course. Davis finished a stroke in front of Cherokee Trail junior Ji Woo Jang, who had taken medalist honors in the previous two tournaments at The Meadows G.C. and Saddle Rock G.C.

Davis also moved up to third in the overall individual league standings, trailing only Jang and Arapahoe’s Tyler Martinez.

Arapahoe won as team for the second time, snapping Cherokee Trail’s two-meet win streak with a five-stroke victory over the Cougars. In the process, the Warriors rallied past Cherokee Trail in the overall team standings and take a two-stroke advantage into the final league tournament on Sept. 4 at Aurora Hills G.C. The final league standings determine which 5A regional tournament each team will head to in September in order to quality for the state tournament.

Seniors Zach Goldsmith and Mitchell Nevin shot 78 and 79, respectively, for the Cougars.

Sophomore Danny Taggart carded a 7-over 79 to lead Grandview, which finished fourth as a team and sits in the same spot in the league team standings.

Junior Paul Cleveland shot an 81 for Smoky Hill, which dropped him from third into a tie for fourth in the league’s individual standings.
